Consistency compounds is a very well worn phrase in personal-development-land. And there's good reason for it. If you want results at anything over time, don't rely on motivation. Nobody is motivated on a cold February morning. But people who commit to consistency will get up, whatever their mood or weather, and do whatever it is that they need to do. And, as a result, eventually their efforts will compound. And so, this is one of the "rules" I run my business by. It isn't reasonable to expect that you start something and immediately become so masterful that people are queuing out of the door to work with you. An awful lot of the time, whenever you start something new, you are doing work, day after day, with no obvious reward. But, if you do that, consistently, little by little, inch by inch, you create a body of work that surprises even you. And, is attractive to other people. I had a proud moment yesterday when I came face to face with a whole year's worth of my own effort. I'm still slightly amazed by it, even though I did the work 😆 You see, most Fridays (except holidays etc) I give a talk to my clients about something to do with personal or professional development. I call it HeRO Hour, which is related to the HeRO Program. And yesterday I decided to group together all of the talks into one place so it is easier for my clients to access. There are FORTY ONE HOURS of quality content in my new HeRO Hour Archive 🤯. And all of this is now available as bonus material, in addition to twenty hours of structured program. I'm so pleased with it, I am going to give part of it away to everyone who attends my Gen X workshop on Monday. Just as a little celebration. That's on top of free access to my AI Coach. Am I giving too much away here? 🤔 Regardless, don't forget. Whatever you are working towards, however hard it is, just keep showing up. Because consistency, eventually, always compounds. For people who want regular personal or professional development advice from a qualified executive coach.
This week was budget week in the UK and everyone has an opinion about it. Personally, I don't think I am qualified to understand it or the longer term implications. But, one thing is really clear. In the UK, productivity has been flat for years, while at the same time, burnout is increasing. Both of these things are clear from reputable statistics authorities, not just that bloke from the pub with a pint of bitterness. I hear about both of these things all the time in my coaching....
I was talking to a client yesterday. They are putting on an event for the first time. And a bit nervous about it. In the course of the conversation I mentioned I was "going live on LinkedIn" later in the day. You can see the 15-minute recording if you are interested: Gen X Leaders: Why it is so Hard Right Now. My client asked if I was nervous like her. And I realised that, not only was I not nervous, I was barely thinking about it. Despite the possibility that hundreds of people might see me...
I got a wonderful message from my client Chris yesterday: Chris became a client of mine almost a year ago, but we really started to work together properly in February. He's already a brilliant entrepreneur who had built a successful business. And he knows how to make money out of it. But, that comes with lots of challenges. How to manage a team. How to keep yourself motivated. How to keep reinventing yourself. How to keep improving. How to juggle everything. How to deal with stress. I could...
