Am I Really Going to Mansplain Menopause? 😱

Of course I'm not going to do that. Catchy hook though, right? 😉

However, if I am going to give a talk (which I am) for people in the middle part of life (which they are) and I don't mention menopause (which I will) I'd be avoiding something hugely significant.

It's also an elephant in the room of many of the personal coaching conversations I have with people. Women experiencing it first hand. Men experiencing it second hand.

And so, I have sought to educate myself on the topic. Last year I interviewed Chantal Cross (What Men Need to Know About Menopause) and Dr Catherine Coward (What Men Need To Know About Perimenopause) and the interviews are still live on LinkedIn.

Now this will only be a small part of my talk Gen X Rising: From Pressure to Power in Midlife, but one that I genuinely believe is vital we discuss. I'll also be talking (unironically) about the manopause/andropause.

And so, there won't be any mansplaining (hate that term anyway), but there will be some facts, information and understanding. Make sure to grab your free seat. Twenty people signed up in the first few hours!

I'm really looking forward to it.

This week was budget week in the UK and everyone has an opinion about it. Personally, I don't think I am qualified to understand it or the longer term implications. But, one thing is really clear. In the UK, productivity has been flat for years, while at the same time, burnout is increasing. Both of these things are clear from reputable statistics authorities, not just that bloke from the pub with a pint of bitterness. I hear about both of these things all the time in my coaching....

Consistency compounds is a very well worn phrase in personal-development-land. And there's good reason for it. If you want results at anything over time, don't rely on motivation. Nobody is motivated on a cold February morning. But people who commit to consistency will get up, whatever their mood or weather, and do whatever it is that they need to do. And, as a result, eventually their efforts will compound. And so, this is one of the "rules" I run my business by. It isn't reasonable to...

I was talking to a client yesterday. They are putting on an event for the first time. And a bit nervous about it. In the course of the conversation I mentioned I was "going live on LinkedIn" later in the day. You can see the 15-minute recording if you are interested: Gen X Leaders: Why it is so Hard Right Now. My client asked if I was nervous like her. And I realised that, not only was I not nervous, I was barely thinking about it. Despite the possibility that hundreds of people might see me...
